•Declining homicide rates continue to reflect strong gender differences:
Global homicide rate down 5.2% from 5.9 to 5.6 homicides per 100,000 people (2015-2020)
Globally, recorded homicides are male, 8 out of 10, women and girls make up about 60% of all murder victims killed by people from their surroundings. Gender disparities also exist at the regional level.
Homicide rate between 2015 and 2020, In Latin America and the Caribbean homicide rate down 6.9% for males, female homicide rate up 2.7%, In East and Southeast Asia
The homicide rate fell by 35% for males but by 20% for females.
Aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030, global homicide rate expected to fall 19% from 2015 level.
